Finally all of my hard work blogging, posting, and months of my husband asking me what are you doing on Active Rain again has paid off. I got my first call from someone who read my Active Rain profile. I have to tell you I was thrilled. When I got off the phone I yelled "Y E S it works!"
I got a call from buyers in Long Island, New York. They are looking to buy a winter home here in Florida and plan to retire here in 7 years. They first started their search in the Naples area and a friend of theirs told them they should check out the Venice Florida area and how beautiful it is here. The buyers went to the internet and found my Active Rain profile on About.com and gave me a call. I asked them when they plan on coming to the Venice area, that I would love to show them around and while they are here I can show them some homes. I scheduled the appointment. They were only in town for 2 days before leaving on a cruise to the Mexican Riviera.
I meet the buyers, showed them around town and showed them about 20 homes. They found a home they liked, submitted an offer and it was accepted the next day.
I am really glad I was able to help them while they were here and excited to receive my first Active Rain lead. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Kari, Congratulations! I haven't closed one yet from AR, but I have had calls and I've only been on AR a short time. I do have a buyer under contract from Facebook though! This online stuff really works! I'm so glad you had great results!

I've only been blogging here at Active Rain for less than 90 days still, but I'm hoping that the leads will start trickling in soon.
That is great news and we are so happy for you. It is a great way for people to see us and get to know us a bit by our blogs before they contact us.
Kari, just keep up the good work. As you can see all that is paying off. My wife asks me the same thing. Well I got a call two days ago from some out of town buyers looking for a home and they want to pay cash. This is not the first call I have gotten. So don't worry after awhile your husband will figure it out.

This system works. All my clients (3) this past weekend were generated by AR. One made an offer and I will be showing some other homes to the rest of them next weekend.

In part, this can be found to be due to your about.com profile. Regardless of that, based on the fact that you've only been on AR for a couple months and already have a lead puts you ahead of the curve by large margins over some veterans believe it or not. I looked at your blog and you give a lot of advice. I guess consumers view someone who gives advice as someone they want to work with. Whatever the reason is, you were successful. Congratulations to you and best of luck in all your future business endeavors.

That is great news and we all know AR works. But my leads are due to the google juice and that is where my buyers came from, a search for akron homes. Ohio is not exactly a vacation destination, ya know and the use of blogging sites is just picking up here.

Congratulations!!! I too am excited about my participation in ActiveRain. I haven't received a lead from my blog but I can tell you that ActiveRain taught me about SEO and blogging has placed my on page 1 with several results at a time on page 1.
This has resulted in one Listing and one telephone call from a local TV Show producer wanting to talk to me about Short Sales. Without ActiveRain I don't know when I would have gotten around to learning about SEO.

Kari - I've been on AR for about 2.5 months and I'm currently in escrow with a consumer who found me on AR. When he first called me about six weeks ago, I asked him what was it that made him call me instead of the other lenders in our area (the ones higher up on the list than me with more points)? It wasn't my blog that attracted his attention, it was my points (or lack thereof) that impressed him, it wasn't my AR standing in my community (#20 at the time) that appealed to him and it wasn't my subscriptions or associations either. His answer, "I liked the comment you made on that post about .....". He called me because he liked the comment I made on someone else's blog. Go figure.
